The hangover

Saturday night was a busy day filled with lots of food and diabetes mismanagement.

It started with my great-aunt’s 100th birthday party, a formal affair with a full cocktail-hour and tuxedo-clad wait-staff walking around with trays containing little puffed pastries that screamed “eat me!”, followed by a delicious buffet lunch (I resisted the birthday cake).  During the evening, I went to a friend’s wedding which, after the ceremony, consisted of a formal affair with a full cocktail-hour and tuxedo-clad wait-staff walking around with trays containing little puffed pastries that screamed “eat me!”, followed by a delicious three-course meal (willpower had vanished when it came to the wedding cake).

By the end of the day, I had taken about 33% more insulin than normal, and my blood sugars looked something like this.
