Annoying WordPress changes
It seems that WordPress, the platform on which this blog is hosted, has made some rather annoying changes to their comment policy. They no longer will let you comment with just a name/email/URL without “logging in” first. Also, the “Notify me of follow-up comments via email” box is automatically checked, and if you forget to uncheck it, your email box may fill up quickly.
No, it’s not you, it’s WordPress.
I apologize for the inconvenience this causes (Captcha phrases on Blogger’s platform are just as bad, it’s a lose-lose), and I have to imagine that WordPress will reverse this policy in the near future. Meanwhile, I’ve set this blog so that you don’t have to leave an email address when you comment, but then the picture next to your comment will look pale and lifeless, rather than your usual vibrant selves.

Rolling in the D 
Thank you for the link. I haven’t seen anyone outside of WordPress employees who think this is a good change, but I would be surprised if they undid it. They have a history of digging in their heels about things that users don’t like. Regarding another policy that people were vocal about hating, one of the WP guys said something like, “we always get a lot of complaints, but it’s something we have to get through until you guys get used to the new way of doing things” which was sort of hilariously clueless since he was basically saying they just do whatever they want and when people get tired enough they’ll shut up.

The forced log in was a few weeks ago (which was bad enough) but the auto-checked box. So frustrating!
